I first met Dan in 1995 when he was attending a gifted boarding school in Wingate. At one point we were literally room by room. Swimmer Nir Tobis was a friend of Dan's room and I was their neighbor and partner in the kitchen and bathroom so our relationship was pretty close on a daily level even though we were in a different sport.
As mentioned, our closeness was created and based on the connection to sports, each in his own industry, but we shared the same feelings of successes, disappointments and a life full of challenges.
In the year that Dan was in boarding school I remember they did at Wingate a tournament of tennis players in the academy and all the athletes had to come see and encourage the members. Of course I came to watch the games and cheer on who I shared a room with.
I remember Dan as an athlete and a very focused person. A person who speaks honestly and to the point, will always eat's and mostly knows exactly what he wants to achieve. He was goal-oriented and imbued with motivation to succeed, and at the same time open to the environment, and curious and interested in the other athletes and their industry.
